With the New Year comes a new charity at Ovie Bar& Grill. During the month of January, The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Chicago Chapter is Ovie’s Charity of the Month!
We are serving up a delicious Char Grilled Polish Sausage with grilled onions & whole wheat mustard on a sourdough roll. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to this honorable charity.
The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s Chicago Chapter, formed in 2002, helps raise awareness and money to benefit those with this life changing disease. In 2012, the LRF Chicago Chapter raised nearly $400,000, which aids research and educational programming.
Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that occurs when white blood cells, the ones that battle viruses and infections, begin behaving abnormally. There are two types of lymphoma that are most commonly diagnosed; Hodgkin Lymphoma & Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. According to the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts & Figures, approximately 2,870 people in Illinois were diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2012. With the help of individuals and the community, we can make a difference in the way people understand and take action against cancers such as lymphoma.
